The supernatural theme plays
a big role in the song “Distubia” by the famous artist Rihanna. Many considered
this song the modern day version of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” I’m a big fan
of Rihanna and the video of the song itself. The song is about this Twilight
zone that alters your common reality. It refers to a certain inescapable
situation that she is going through, and is eventually leading to her insanity.
This insanity that starts small, however, grows and grows. In the music video,
you can feel the insanity and chaotic world that Rihanna is trapped in. I love
this song and the video is very creative. From Rihanna imprisoned in a torture
chamber with her eyes “rolled back” to her being tied up later in the video.
The lyrics and the video go hand in hand, they both give you a sense of her
going crazy as if there’s some kind of curse on her that she cannot escape.
